Olympic National Park Starts Pile Burns October 20

Olympic National Park's fire crews plan to burn debris piles in the Mora, Hoh, Elwha and Quinault maintenance areas beginning October 20, conditions permitting. Smoke may be visible from nearby trails and roads and can reduce visibility and air quality; fire.airnow.gov has current readings. The debris comes from containing the Mount Tom Creek Fire, clearing fuels around park buildings and road maintenance.
