Humminbird Fish Finders Become Minn Kota as Johnson Outdoors Merges the Brands

Humminbird's sonar lives on as "Humminbird Imaging" inside Minn Kota units, and existing Humminbird gear stays supported.

Johnson Outdoors has combined its two fishing electronics brands under one name. Humminbird fish finders, sonar and mapping now carry the Minn Kota brand alongside Minn Kota's trolling motors and shallow-water anchors, with Humminbird continuing as "Humminbird Imaging," the sonar and imaging technology inside the new Minn Kota units. The company announced the change October 6, after teasing it as a "whole new chapter" for the two brands.

The pitch is simplicity. Trolling motors, fish finders, mapping and anchors are meant to work as one system under one name, so anglers can draw a route, react to depth changes and position the boat from a single setup. Johnson Outdoors calls it the biggest expansion in Minn Kota's history; the first products are on sale now, with more coming in 2027.

For anyone who already owns Humminbird gear, the key line from the company is that existing Humminbird products will continue to be supported under the Minn Kota brand. Johnson Outdoors has owned both since it bought Humminbird's maker, Techsonic, in 2004.
